Last season, the race to the Premier League Golden Boot was fascinating and the award was ultimately shared among Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, all of whom scored 22 goals. As of now, 4 games have been played in the Premier League, and the race to be crowned the top scorer has warmed up well. But who makes the cut and who misses out? Read on to find out and be sure to join us as we update the rankings at the start of October.
Coming on in the second half, Daniel James scored his first goal in United colours and became a part of United folklore. The Red Devils won the game 4-0, enjoying a blistering start to the season. Even though United have failed to keep up the momentum since then, their Welsh winger has gone from strength to strength.
The youngster was drafted into the first eleven against Wolves, but could not find the back of the net. However, James scored again in the following game, at home against Crystal Palace, even though United went on to lose the game 1-2. The Welshman was on the scoresheet again last weekend, against Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium, but the game ended in a draw.
Daniel James has now scored 3 goals in 4 appearances and is United’s leading goal scorer at the start of September. He has registered a goal every 95 minutes played and has a 75% shooting accuracy. With Anthony Martial still recovering from an injury and Marcus Rashford struggling in front of goal, the Welshman could become a very important player for Manchester United this season.
The Englishman started the new season by impressing against United, but failing to score as his team lost 0-4 at Old Trafford. Lampard opted to use Abraham as a substitute for the next game against Leicester. The Englishman came off the bench, but failed to score and Chelsea drew the game 1-1. The Chelsea manager reinstated Abraham in the first team against Norwich, and the Englishman responded by scoring a brace to help Chelsea win 3-2.
Last weekend, Abraham scored a brace once again, against Sheffield United at the Stamford Bridge, however, the game ended in a 2-2 draw. The Englishman has now scored 4 goals in 4 games and is averaging a goal every 64 minutes played. He has recorded a shot accuracy of 56% so far.
Up against the mighty Liverpool, Pukki showed his fantastic finishing skills, and scored his first goal in the Premier League, even though Norwich lost the game 1-4. He then scored a brilliant hattrick in the following game against Newcastle United, helping Norwich win 3-1. The Finnish striker was on song in the next game too, scoring one and setting up another against Chelsea, however, Norwich lost the game 2-3. Last weekend, Pukki failed to score as Norwich lost 0-2 to West Ham United.
The Finnish striker has now scored 5 goals from 4 games, averaging a goal every 71 minutes played. He has a shot accuracy of 85% and was also adjudged the Premier League Player of the Month for August. He might have started the season on high, but can Teemu Pukki sustain his performance till the end of May? Only time will tell.

Against Arsenal in the next game, Mane started on the left forward role once again, but could not find the back of the net as Liverpool cruised to a 3-1 win at Anfield. Last weekend, the Senegalese scored again, as Liverpool secured a 3-0 away win against Burnley.
Mane has scored 2 goals from 4 games so far, and is averaging a goal every 134 minutes played. Even though he is lagging behind the big boys for now, Mane has time on his side and one can expect him to pick up pace soon and fight for his second Golden Boot.

After failing to score in the 1-3 defeat at the hands of Liverpool, Aubameyang was back among goals last weekend, helping Arsenal earn a draw at home against bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspurs

The Englishman started the new season with a brace against Aston Villa at home, helping Tottenham to a 3-1 win. He then failed to score against Manchester City at the Etihad and the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Harry Kane and Tottenham were frustrated again in the very next game, as Newcastle came to town and sealed a narrow 1-0 victory. The Englishman finally returned to scoring form against Arsenal last weekend, however, his goal was not enough to earn them a win, as the Gunners fought back to secure a 2-2 draw.

The Egyptian started the season with a goal against Norwich City, as Liverpool won the game 4-1. Salah struggled in the following game, against Southampton, and failed to score, even though his team won 2-1. Last weekend against Brighton at home, Sterling had a stellar outing again, but failed to score. However, City still won 4-0.

Aguero started the season on the bench, watching from the sidelines as his team cruised to a 4-0 lead against West Ham United at one time. He started the following game against Spurs, and scored again, however, the tie ended in a 2-2 draw. He was on the score sheet once more in the next game, scoring a brace against Bournemouth and helping City win the game 3-1. Last weekend, Aguero was in scintillating form, scoring another brace and setting up a third as the reigning Champions won 4-0 at home against Brighton.

James was expected to play a bit part role in the team and started the season on the bench against Chelsea, at home. Teemu Pukki finished as the top scorer of the division, scoring 29 times in 43 games.
