Ashley Young set to move to Italy after Inter Milan reach an agreement with the Red Devils | Manchester United Transfer News

Ashley Young will leave Manchester United this month
Inter Milan have reached an agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of current club captain Ashley Young, Sky Sports reports. The deal will be subject to the player clearing a medical and is estimated to cost the Serie A side around £1.3m plus add-ons. Young will be traveling to Milan to undergo medicals ahead of the move by Friday or Saturday.

The Englishman’s future had been making headlines since the start of the January transfer window when Inter Milan’s interest in the player was first revealed. Antonio Conte has been desperate to add solidity to the left side of his backline and had earmarked Young as the perfect candidate for the job. United’s reluctance to do a deal had frustrated the Italian at the start of the month, however, things have fallen in place for the Englishman right now.

United offered Young a late one-year extension

Ashey Young turned down United's offer to extend his contract

Young had entered the final six months of his contract with United and could have been available for Inter Milan for free by the end of the season. However, the Serie A giants wanted to secure his signature in the winter, as Conte attempted to make necessary reinforcements to his squad to try and wrestle away the Serie A title from Juventus.

Following genuine interest from the Nerazzurri, Manchester United attempted to keep the player at Old Trafford by offering him a one-year extension. However, Young turned down the offer, because he had decided that he wanted to leave Old Trafford in search of regular football elsewhere.

The move briefly came under the scanner after it was revealed that the Nerazzurri were also monitoring AS Roma left-back Leonardo Spinazzola. However, it is now believed that the swap deal for Spinazzola which would see striker Matteo Politano move to Roma will have no implications on Young’s move to the San Siro
