| Bruno Fernandes has agreed personal terms with Manchester United |
Bruno
Fernandes has agreed to personal terms with Manchester United, the Telegraph
reports. The Portuguese will now be waiting for United and Sporting Lisbon to
agree to a transfer fee, so he can complete his move to Old Trafford in the
next few days.
The Red Devils
have been talking to the Portuguese side for the transfer of Fernandes for the
last few days. United had been short of midfielders since the departure of Ander
Herrera last summer. The Red Devils had monitored Fernandes during the summer transfer
window, before opting out of registering an official interest in the player.
However,
recent injuries to Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba had highlighted United’s lack
of options in the middle of the park and that had prompted the Premier League
giants to reignite their interest in the Portuguese midfielder.
Injury to Marcus Rashford might have helped speed up negotiations

The injury
to Marcus Rashford on Wednesday night against Wolves was perhaps the last straw
to break the camel’s back for United. Without the Englishman, the Red Devils are
seriously crippled in the goalscoring department and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must be
desperate to have Fernandes under his wing right now.
The Portuguese
is a prolific goalscoring midfielder, perhaps one of the best in Europe at the
moment and has been in fine form this season as well. Now that he has agreed to
personal terms with the Red Devils, Solskjaer will be hoping that the club
hierarchy can get the deal across the line as soon as possible.
United and
Sporting still differ in their valuation of the player, though. The Red Devils are
willing to pay £50m for the player, while the Portuguese side want £68m.
However, Sporting are experiencing some financial difficulties at the moment,
which might force their hand at the moment and convince them to be a little
more flexible in their demands.
The Portuguese side are still interested in a player plus
cash deal for their prized asset and are open to the idea of securing Marcos
Rojo either on a permanent basis or a loan deal. However, Solskjaer remains
skeptical of allowing any player to leave before he has suitable replacements
secured.
