Manchester United Transfer News: Bruno Fernandes transfer fee yet to be agreed between Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon

Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon differ in their evaluation of Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon are yet to agree on a transfer fee for Bruno Fernandes, Sky Sports reports. The two clubs are currently negotiating for the transfer of the Portuguese midfielder, but they are still a few miles apart regarding their valuation of the player. The Red Devils are interested in getting the deal done this month.

United have been looking at other options in the attacking midfield position, but it is understood that they have only entered negotiations for Fernandes. The Red Devils have needed reinforcements in the midfield this season, but injuries to Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay have accelerated those requirements.

The Red Devils have decided that Fernandes is the player who can be the answer to their misfiring midfield and are looking to bring the player to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in January. They have entered negotiations with the Portuguese club, however, a deal has not been finalized yet.

Sporting want £60m plus player for Fernandes, which is higher than United’s evaluation

According to reports, Sporting Lisbon want £60m for the player, which is significantly higher than the amount United are ready to pay at the moment. In addition, the Portuguese side also want Marcos Rojo included in the deal. As such, negotiations are still ongoing amid hopes of reaching a solution in the next couple of days.

Will a return to Portugal entice Marcos Rojo?

The Argentinean wants to leave Old Trafford this month, and United are ready to offer him to Sporting. However, it is not yet clear if a return back to Portugal would entice Rojo. In such a case, the Portuguese side would want other potential signings from Old Trafford.

In midst of all the commotion, the player has continued his fine start to the season. Fernandes scored a brace in Sporting’s 3-1 win over Setubal last week and stays in contention for the Benfica game this Friday as well, unless, of course, United can get his signature ahead of the game.

The Red Devils face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Wednesday. It is almost certain that Fernandes will not be joining United in time for the game. However, fans will be praying that the deal can be finalized ahead of the weekend’s trip to Anfield. Only time will tell, though, if that dream will materialize.
